Vanderahe, from Sawston, who ran Jabba Communications, admitted making false statements about the service and selling customers restricted porn videos without a licence. He was fined £650 and ordered to pay costs of £1,000. Nottingham City trading standards service manager Caraline Ryan welcomed the conviction. She said after the case: "Sex chat lines are legal if they stick to certain rules. "But we received complaints from members of the public who suspected that it was not a genuine introduction. It was a scam. "We investigated and spoke to former employees who also thought it was wrong that they should be pretending to men who would join the agency and pay a lot of money to pay premium rates to talk to them."
